Culture-Based Home Care

Culture-based home care is something we are seeing more often in home care agencies.

We believe that caregivers have the responsibility to recognize the seniors’ religious, spiritual and cultural beliefs. Acknowledging this is one of the best ways to care for our elderly! It also encourages home care agencies to employ a diverse array of caregivers.

To meet the needs of those caregivers, Nevvon offers training modules in French, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Haitian Creole, Spanish and more. The care industry is diverse, so we are continually building out our training programs in multiple languages.

Choosing the right caregiver for the right client is a must. Most of the time, assigning a caregiver to a client with a similar background and language can help to keep a client happy and comfortable. Seniors who do not speak English as their first language struggle to communicate their needs. They would prefer a caregiver that speaks and understands the same first language they do.

Building good relationships between caregivers and clients starts with communication and understanding. We know how important this is, and quality, multi-lingual training is just one way we help caregivers to build those positive relationships.
