How to use caregiver surveying in concert with other data sources

As we mentioned in a previous blog, surveying your caregivers can provide valuable feedback on their experiences and identify areas where they may need additional training. But to get a complete picture of your agency's performance, it's important to also look at other data sources, such as your agency management system (AMS) and patient data. Your AMS can provide insights into metrics like employee turnover rate, average time to fill open positions, and number of missed shifts, which can help you identify patterns and areas for improvement. Patient data can provide information on patient outcomes, satisfaction levels, and caregiver performance, which can help you identify areas where your caregivers may need more training or support.

In fact, a study published in the Journal of Patient Safety found that using patient data to identify areas for improvement and implementing targeted training programs led to a 21% reduction in patient safety incidents. This highlights the importance of taking a comprehensive approach to identifying training opportunities and deficiencies.

Additionally, using multiple data sources can help you identify trends and patterns that may not be immediately apparent from survey data alone. For example, if you notice a high turnover rate among caregivers who work with a certain patient population, looking at patient data may help you identify specific challenges or training needs for those patients.

By combining survey data with other data sources, you can create a more holistic view of your agency's performance and identify areas for improvement that you may not have been able to see otherwise. So, while surveying your caregivers is a great start, make sure to also leverage your AMS and patient data to get the most out of your efforts.
